Development and integration of mechanical and electrical hardware, embedded software, control models, and user interfaces to meet application needs.
Hi, I'm Simon (Haibao) Wu.
Mechanical engineer and innovator advancing clean combustion and alternative fuel technologies through DOE-funded research and development.

About
Simon is a mechanical engineer and researcher specializing in advanced combustion systems, alternative fuels, and engine control technologies. His work focuses on developing high-efficiency, ultra-low-emission powertrain solutions using fuels such as dimethyl ether (DME) and propane.
He has contributed to multiple U.S. Department of Energy–funded projects, authored peer-reviewed technical publications, and is an inventor on several patented fuel system technologies. His expertise spans fuel injection systems, combustion optimization, embedded controls, and the commercialization of next-generation clean energy technologies.
Areas of Expertise
- Fuel system development for diesel, jet fuel, and alternative fuels (dimethyl ether & propane)
- Embedded controls and data acquisition — engine ECUs and high-speed real-time feedback systems
- Mechanical design, control electronics, unit testing, and system integration
- Advanced manufacturing (CNC), prototyping, and performance validation
Experience
Engine control strategy development for alternative fuels, controls and instrumentation integration, and engine testing and data analysis.
